Princess Royal Jetty team welcomes the HMS Queen Elizabeth

Tony Gee has been involved as part of the team welcoming the arrival of the HMS Queen Elizabeth as part of the refurbishment to the Princess Royal Jetty, Portsmouth.

The £3bn Queen Elizabeth Class (QEC) aircraft carrier berthed at its home port for the first time last month at a ceremony attended by tens of thousands. The QEC will be based in Portsmouth for its lifespan.

Tony Gee was engaged by VolkerStevin to provide temporary works design services as part of the partial replacement and life extending works for the Princess Royal Jetty. With the upgrade necessary to accommodate the 280m, 65,000 tonne warship, the largest ever built in the UK.

Services provided for the contractor included reporting on the stability of existing structures, design and checking on a variety of falsework and access solutions and providing technical advice to enable a safe renovation of the infrastructure.
