Brisbane Airport Roundabout Upgrade, Australia

Synopsis:
Construction Engineering and temporary works
Contractor:
John Holland Joint Venture
End Client:
Queensland Department of Main Roads

Tony Gee provided construction engineering services for a 650m long elevated dual carriageway to grade separate the roundabout at the entrance to Brisbane Airport. The bridge consists of a twin box girder deck and was constructed using precast segments in balanced cantilever.

Our services included the pier formwork, bridge deck segment formwork, geometry control of the precast segments and miscellaneous temporary works associated with balanced cantilever construction. Large portions of the temporary works were reused from the construction of the Gateway Bridge, so Tony Gee designed the modifications required.
