Temporary Works Engineer, Manchester

Tony Gee requires an experienced temporary works engineer with at least five years’ experience. Applicants will ideally be Chartered or close to Chartership should be able to demonstrate a high level of design skills and ability. They must be able to demonstrate their experience of undertaking and being responsible for the design of civil and structural projects from feasibility to construction stage. This position is based in our office in Central Manchester.


  • Academic base – MEng or BEng with MSc
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction / design consultancies post-graduation
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the design of temporary works (including proprietary systems where appropriate)
  • Ideally Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer or on final approach to Chartered Review
  • Experience of co-ordinating and delivering temporary works designs for rail and broad civil engineering projects
  • Proficient in temporary works design to BS5975
  • Ideally experience of steel, concrete, masonry, geotechnical and timber design to Eurocodes
  • Ideally experience in computer software for the analysis of structures
  • Ideally experience in the use of computer drawing software, e.g. AutoCAD or Microstation
  • Willing to help develop the temporary works capabilities of the office
