East Kent Access Phase 2, UK

Synopsis:
Design for drainage structures and undertrack crossings. Independent check of temporary and permanent works
Contractor:
VolkerFitzpatrick Hochtief JV
End Client:
Kent County Council / Kent Highways Services

Tony Gee completed the out design for drainage structures and undertrack crossings, independent checks of the slide and box jacking philosophy, jacking and anti-drag systems, predicted settlements, temporary works and permanent works at Cliffsend Underpass and independent checks for the temporary and permanent works at Cottingdon Road Bridge.

Whilst maintaining the independence of the Category III checker, Tony Gee adopted a collaborative approach with the JV and their consultant in reaching solutions for the problems posed by the works. Due to this relationship, when detailed designs were submitted for checking there was already an understanding and acceptance of the design concept. Maintaining an open dialogue ensured that innovative proposals could be introduced without delay.
