Contractor:
Laing O’Rourke
End Client:
E.On UK

Tony Gee completed the temporary works design for a number of deep excavations and pipeline trenches on the new Combined Cycle Gas Turbine power plant at the Isle of Grain. The site at Grain is located over 15 m to 20 m of very soft clay.

Tony Gee designed the temporary sheet pile walls for various structures of the CCGT power station such as condensate pits, HRSG pits, dump tank, central effluent monitoring basin, oil water interceptor, cooling water pipe trenches, seal weir pit, pipes in flood bunds. The other task was to maintain the height of the flood bund throughout the installation of the pipes in the bunds. The proposed solution provides temporary gabion walls with HDPE layer wrapped around them.
