The Silken Hotel in The Strand was a prestigious development for which Tony Gee provided engineering expertise and advice on a number of strategic matters.

The majority of the existing historic structure was demolished to enable construction of the new 11 storey Silken Hotel. The enabling works package involved the retention of the original 1903 grade II listed façade around the Marconi House site of the building, as well as construction of a three storey basement below pavement level.

Tony Gee designed all temporary works associated with the demolition and façade retention scheme. This included design of the retention frames and support structure for the retained façade, and all propping and excavation sequencing of the basement construction.
