Over 200 m of piled quay wall regenerated this derelict industrial waterfront, creating an 8500 sq. m site with an elevated river walkway, amphitheatre and river access. Piles were driven in intersecting arcs to create visual interest.
Tony Gee’s economical design encompassed a hybrid mixture of ground anchors and gravity tie-backs to restrain the wall and minimise excavation of contaminated material. The optimised design utilised the complex curved geometry of the wall to link the tie-back arrangement.
