Tony Gee strengthens Canadian power and energy offering with senior leadership appointment

Tony Gee Canada has appointed Tom Cartigny as Power and Energy Lead, strengthening the company's capability to support Canada's rapidly expanding power, energy and low-carbon infrastructure sector.

Tom brings more than a decade of experience delivering major infrastructure projects in the UK’s nuclear, renewable energy and electricity transmission sectors. These include projects under the UK’s Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) framework, such as the Banniskirk Hub, alongside major offshore developments like Berwick Bank A&B.

Tom joins the Canadian business at a time of change for the country’s power and energy sector. Driven by net-zero mandates and accelerating electricity demand, national installed generation capacity is projected to surge from 158 GW in 2025 to 189 GW by 2030, underpinned by an estimated CAN$58 billion in annual clean energy investments. Tony Gee Canada is already shaping this transition by bringing our expertise in nuclear, wind, and transmission infrastructure to the Canadian market. The company is playing a key supporting role in delivering the G7’s first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project at Darlington.

Tony Gee Canada has grown from a founding team of two to nearly 20 engineers since launching in spring 2022. Backed by Tony Gee’s 50+ years of international design and engineering experience, the Canadian team brings together geotechnical and structural engineering with advanced BIM modelling to support major infrastructure projects across the rail, power, highway, and marine sectors. The team combines the technical depth of a global specialist with the local presence and responsiveness Canadian clients need to deliver complex projects with confidence. Tony Gee aims to deliver larger projects in the region over the coming years, utilising the extensive expertise of the whole Tony Gee Group.
