For the third year running, Tony Gee and Knights Brown will be building a bridge in collaboration for the upcoming Bridges to Prosperity (B2P) campaign. Tony Gee and Knights Brown will be continuing their partnership after the last two successful B2P initiatives. Previously the teams have travelled to Rwanda, where bridges were built to help the communities in the rural areas of Kiyumba and Kigohe.
This year, five volunteers from each company will be based for two weeks in Namakhokolo, a rural village in Uganda. The team will be working with B2P and the local community to help build a bridge over the River Passa in late August.
The community of Namakhokolo is roughly 4,000 strong and is predominantly made up of miners, artisans and farmers. Over the last three years the River Passa has injured a significant amount of the villagers and claimed the lives of 12 people who have attempted to cross it. The bridge will provide safe access all year round and will help drive local trade to boost the local economy.
For this year, Tony Gee and Knights Brown are looking to raise £15,000 for materials and supplies. You can follow their progress and donate to their cause by visiting their MyDonate page.
