Work underway at Northumberland

Tony Gee is the Lead Designer, after being appointed by Farrans Construction, for the first phase of works at former Blyth Power Station, Northumberland.

Our marine team will be delivering the detailed design for the widening of the existing dock, dredging for a deeper berth pocket and the construction of two dolphin structures to provide protection for a Grade II Listed timber staithes structure close to the dock.

We will also be providing earthworks design for substantial site remediation, removing/treating near-surface contamination and the creation of an ecological corridor amongst other services.

Tony Gee’s involvement on the scheme starts at 04:10 onwards

Advance Northumberland has appointed Farrans as principal contractor, to create a development-ready site and fit for purpose deepwater dock in order to attract investment and associated job creation, providing a boost to the local and regional economy.

Speaking about our contribution to the scheme, Marine Group Director, Adeniyi Aje said: “We are pleased to have supported Farrans through the procurement process of this significant development.

Our ethos lies in making this scheme a success. We look forward to working with Advance Northumberland, Farrans and other project stakeholders to realise the vision of maximising the strengths of Northumberland Energy Park in order to attract investment in Energy related businesses as part of the wider Energy Central campaign.”

The works are expected to take 18 months to complete.
