Tony Gee was retained by their steelwork fabricator/erector for this ambitious project to provide a full erection analysis, to develop the erection scheme and to design the temporary works associated with the pylon and cable erection and stressing, for the stadium superstructure, which is 240 x 200m at the pylon bases. Site supervision was provided to cover the cable erection and preloading operations.
The stadium is a highly complicated structure; all cable stays having an effect on each other. Thus, the sequence of construction and stressing is of vital importance to achieve the correct roof shape and distribution of locked in stresses.heet piles to allow the headwall to be dismantled and rebuilt without disruption to the railway.
