Leanamore Windfarm

County Clare, Ireland

Leanamore Wind Farm is 3.5km east of Ballylongford in County Kerry, Ireland. The Wind Farm consists of nine turbines, with a 20.7MW generating capacity.

Tony Gee was appointed by SSE for civil, structural and geotechnical design services under a call-off agreement through an NEC3 PSC (Option E) contract.

The Wind turbine base modelled in REVIT – this approach gives a clear 3D representation of the rebar details and also allows for any proposed site changes to be quickly reviewed and checked. The model also proved useful to space each bar on the top mat to minimise the risk of slips, trip and falls during construction.

Following completion of the design, Tony Gee provided two design engineers to supervise the structural and geotechnical element of the wind turbine foundation construction.

The scheme was under the jurisdiction of Irish legislation hence the Safety Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) 2013 Regulations applied to the scheme. Tony Gee worked with the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) to provide accurate information for the Safety file.
