Tony Gee won the design contract for the wheel foundation, brows and temporary foundation for the iconic structure.

The erection scheme proposed, which was to assemble the wheel horizontally over the River Thames, would impose enormous forces on the foundation as the wheel was reared up to its operating position. A fast-track approach was required to ensure early completion of this prestigious project. Tony Gee’s role also included design development ensuring that the client’s needs for cost certainty and completion on time were achieved.
