Lighthouse Club Hong Kong Award Tony Gee with Special Merit for Ingenious Design

Tony Gee and VSL, working on the Sydney Metro - Western Sydney Airport Surface, Civil and Alignment Works (SCAW) project, worked collaboratively to design an innovative solution for segment lifting which ensures a higher level of safety than when using traditional lifting methods.

The C-Hook Segment Lifter eliminates the need for operatives to manually attach lifting equipment to segments and thus makes it safer for operatives by eliminating the need to work from height, eliminating the change of entrapment in the lifting equipment and it provides predictable lifting behaviour and crane stability.

This design was awarded with a Special Merit at the Lighthouse Club Hong Kong 7th Design for Safety Awards for the ingenuity of the solution.
