Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital

Kent, UK

Structural design of three-storey Cardiac Catheter Centre that forms an extension to the Queen Elizabeth Queen Mother Hospital.

The building comprised a structural steelwork frame with reinforced concrete pad foundations. Insitu concrete suspended floors were constructed using metal decking permanent formwork. The building is approximately 15 x 40m on plan and is located within a constrained site at the QEQM Hospital. End use includes both ward and operating theatre areas.

The steelwork was designed to provide a low vibrational response to human footfall in accordance with Health Technical Memorandum requirements.
